MidsummerDonna Tartt's The Secret History
“During an ironic medieval-themed bachelor party in the woods, the groom's infidelity festers beneath a haze of hallucinogenic mushrooms — transforming the group's only woman into a goddess, and their silence into a ritual that demands a bloody sacrifice.”
Eden is a folk-horror feature set over a single weekend, where a group of old friends gather in the deep forest for a bachelor party staged as an ironic medieval LARP — costumes, mead, mock rituals.
As hallucinogenic mushrooms circle the fire and the groom's infidelity begins to bleed through the performance, the group's only woman is slowly cast as goddess, judge, and executioner. What began as a joke becomes liturgy — and the woods start to answer.
